SciSports is happy to welcome Sander Boonstra and Rick Krabbendam into the SciSports family, where they will work part-time with the BallJames team. Sander will assist the team in background and foreground subtraction optimization, while Rick will focus on camera calibration. Douwe Dijkink has also joined the Datascouting team as part of his internship.
Wouter Roosenburg, Director BallJames: “I’m very happy with both additions to our team. (Automatic) camera calibration is extremely important for BallJames, because of the high data accuracy we want to achieve.”
The work of Sander and Rick will be instrumental for the BallJames project. “A mismatch in calibration will result into inaccurate data, while a proper background and foreground subtraction will contribute significantly to reduce computational time later down the road. I’m very glad that we were able to add these dedicated resources to the team.”
Internship
In the meantime, Douwe Dijkink has also temporarily joined the SciSports team as part of his internship. During his time here, Douwe will work on the value proposition for a possible new SciSports tool. Meanwhile, he will also assist the Datascouting department in their work where necessary.
Stefan Huiskes, Datascout since 2014, is happy with Douwe’s arrival. “We are excited to have Douwe join the team for the next six months. We think his qualities and the research he will carry out over the course of his internship will be a valuable addition to the SciSports team.”
