When looking for new talents to add to your team, for many clubs it is very hard to keep track of every interesting competition, country or region. Sending a scout to every country, where there may possibly be an interesting talent that suits your style of play, is way too expensive and time-consuming. We can show you how to control this process by using data in a smart way. Next to this, the assessment of a scout is purely based on a subjective opinion, while data could help the scout to give an objective substantiation. In this blog, we are using our actionable insights to take a look at the fastest risers in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the highest Brazilian football division and one of the biggest pools of talents in the world of football.

As a chief scout, you want to know which players are rapidly developing themselves in a short period of time. Using the ‘SciSkill development descending’ ranking-option will give you a list of the players that have been developing themselves as fastest during the last six months. In the next paragraphs we will highlight three of these fast risers in the Brasileiro Série A.
Cleiton Schwengber
Cleiton Schwengber, commonly known as Cleiton, is a Brazilian goalkeeper that plays for Atlético Mineiro. He is a youth product from the club, who started playing for the first team when he was only 17 years old. Now, five years later, he is still playing for the team but has to share his position with another keeper. Next to that, he has some international experience as he has played three games for the Brazilian U20 national team.
Cleiton is the fastest riser in the Brasileiro Série A. He has a SciSkill development of 33.3 and a SciSkill Potential development of 37.3 over the last six months.
Our Player Roles model allows you to make a differentiation between different playing styles a player can have. Cleiton can be described as a typical ‘Line Keeper’.
Player role: Line Keeper
This keeper has only one goal, keeping a clean sheet. He excels at shot stopping, eliminating threats from crosses and quickly recovers after blocking a shot. He rules the 6-yard box. His weaknesses can be ball skills, covering the defensive line and reading the game. When in possession, he plays a simple passing game, reducing his on-ball to a minimum.
Fernando Costanza
Fernando Costanza is another fast riser in the Brasileiro Série A. The 20-year-old Brazilian right back plays for Botafogo FR. He started his career in the youth academy of Botafogo and started playing for their B squad when he was 18 years old. Last season he was lent out to LOSC Lille’s B squad, returning to Botafogo’s first team this season. Making him more interesting for European clubs is the fact that Constanza has the Italian nationality since he is 19 years old.
Constanza has a SciSkill development of 22.3 and a SciSkill Potential development of 19.0 over the last six months. His style of play can be described with two different player roles, being; Defensive Back (91%) and Inverted Wing Back (88%).
Antony
Antony Matheus dos Santos, commonly known as Antony, is a Brazilian right winger for São Paulo Futebol Clube. Antony started his football career in the youth academy of São Paulo at the age of ten. In 2018 he was transferred over to the first team at the age of 18. He is on the radar of many big international clubs, as he is seen as one of the biggest upcoming talents in his age category. Just like Cleiton, he has some international experience as he has played three games for the Brazilian U23 national team, in which he managed to score once.
Antony has a SciSkill development of 21.1 and a SciSkill Potential development of 31.3 over the last six months.
